ReadJoy Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 11, 2026

ReadJoy is a reading and language-learning app provided by JIN PENG under the ReadJoy name. For privacy questions, contact jinpengchina@gmail.com.

Books, documents and local data

ReadJoy uses books and documents you choose to open or import to display text, translate passages and provide read-aloud. Reading progress, settings, annotations, cached translations and local reading statistics may be stored on your device. Please use material that you own or have permission to use.

You can remove imported documents and manage application data on your device. Clearing app data may remove imported copies, settings and reading progress. Original documents stored outside the app must be managed separately.

Online translation

When you request online translation or enable bilingual translation, ReadJoy sends the relevant text and source/target language information to Google translation endpoints. Translations may be cached locally for reading and playback. The translation provider also receives network information needed to serve the request, such as your IP address. Google handles information under its Privacy Policy.

Only use online translation for text you are willing to send to the translation provider. Machine translation can contain errors.

Read-aloud and speech engines

ReadJoy uses the Android text-to-speech engine and voices selected on your device. Processing may take place locally or through a network service, depending on the selected engine, voice and settings. Network voices may send the text to the speech provider. Voice downloads and network speech are subject to that provider's policies.

Optional online features

The reader may offer optional online catalogs, reference lookups, downloads, reading-progress synchronization and connections to storage or reading services. When you choose to use or configure one of these features, information required for it is sent to the relevant service. This can include search terms, selected text, document identifiers or metadata, reading progress, files you transfer and account credentials or tokens you supply for that service. Progress synchronization is not enabled by default.

These services are operated separately and apply their own privacy and retention policies. You can disable configured integrations in the app and manage remote data with the service provider. Local settings or caches may remain until you remove them or clear app data.

Purchases

ReadJoy is a one-time paid download through Google Play. There is no ReadJoy subscription, in-app purchase, recurring charge or ReadJoy purchase-verification server. Google processes payment details, purchase history and refunds under its policies. ReadJoy does not receive your payment card details.

Support and diagnostics

Crash reports may be stored locally. If you choose to share a crash report through Android's share feature, it is sent to the recipient and service you select. Logs may include technical information, file paths or document-related details; review them before sharing.

If you contact us by email, we receive your email address, message and any attachments you provide. We use this information to respond and investigate the issue, and retain correspondence as needed for support and applicable obligations. You can request deletion by contacting the address above, subject to any information we are required to retain.

Your choices and policy updates

You can manage document permissions, the selected speech engine and app data through Android settings. You can control online features in the app and contact third-party providers about information they hold. We cannot promise a third-party provider's retention period or that all speech is processed offline.

We will update this policy when the app's data practices materially change. The current policy is available from the app's Privacy entry.
